The Gift of Eternal Life in Christ
1 John 5:11-12 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
As we meditate on the profound truth found in 1 John 5:11-12, we are reminded that eternal life is not merely an extension of existence; it is the very life of God Himself. This life is a gift bestowed upon us through faith in Jesus Christ, His Son. The passage makes it abundantly clear: to possess eternal life, we must possess the Son.
Without Christ, we are spiritually dead, disconnected from the source of life. The life of God is not something we can earn or achieve through our own efforts; it is a divine gift that flows from a relationship with Jesus. This relationship transforms our existence and grants us access to the fullness of life that God intends for us.
Eternal life is not just a future promise; it begins the moment we accept Christ. It is a life characterized by peace, joy, and purpose. In John 10:10, Jesus states, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” This abundant life is available to all who believe in Him, and it is through Him that we find true fulfillment.
Let us also remember the words of John 14:6, where Jesus proclaims, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This underscores the exclusivity of the path to eternal life. It is only through Christ that we can have a relationship with God and experience the fullness of His life.
As we reflect on these truths, let us be inspired to deepen our relationship with Christ. Let us share this gift of eternal life with others, recognizing the urgency of leading those who do not know Him to the One who is life itself.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the incredible gift of eternal life through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I am grateful that through Him, I can experience the fullness of life that You desire for me. Help me to fully understand the depth of this gift and to live in a way that reflects Your love and grace.
Lord, I pray for those who do not yet know You. Open their hearts to the truth of the Gospel and draw them to Your Son, that they may also receive the gift of eternal life. May I be a vessel for Your message, sharing the hope and joy that comes from knowing You.
Thank You for the promise of life eternal and for the assurance that through Christ, I am never alone. Help me to walk in this truth daily, and to share it boldly with others. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
