“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:6 (KJV)
In an age of instant gratification, the concept of waiting has become increasingly difficult to embrace. We live in a world where speed is glorified, and shortcuts are often celebrated. Many are in a relentless rush to rise to the top—whether in career, status, or influence. But in that haste, some fall into the temptation of cutting corners, compromising integrity, or abandoning God’s path for their lives.
But God’s ways are higher. His timing is perfect. The scripture reminds us to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, trusting that He will exalt us in due time. This means allowing God’s process to refine us. It’s trusting that where we are today is part of where He’s taking us tomorrow.
Just as seeds take time to grow and mature, so do our purposes and destinies. The process might seem long, and it might feel like others are racing ahead. But God’s promotion is lasting, and His exaltation is built on the solid foundation of His will, not human manipulation.
Sometimes, walking with someone who hasn’t “made it” yet tests our loyalty. We may feel tempted to leave them behind, assuming they will never reach their breakthrough. But often, just after we give up, their moment comes. This is a reminder: never despise the days of small beginnings, and never forsake those in the waiting season. (Zechariah 4:10)
God operates on a divine timetable. His “due time” is not always our “right time.” The Spirit of God knows the precise moment when the promise is ripe for fulfillment. Our role is to remain faithful, steadfast, and humble, trusting that He who has promised is faithful to deliver.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to trust Your timing. In moments of impatience or frustration, remind me that Your plan is perfect and Your schedule is never late. Teach me to humble myself under Your mighty hand, to walk in integrity, and to honor the process. Give me a spirit of endurance and a heart that remains faithful in the waiting. I surrender my ambitions and trust You to exalt me in Your perfect time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
