“So that we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” (Hebrews 13:6)

When we accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we receive not only salvation but also the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not just a guide or a comforter—He is our ever-present help. He strengthens us, teaches us, reminds us of truth, and empowers us to walk boldly, without fear.

In a world full of uncertainty, fear is a natural human response. But for those who have the Spirit of God living in them, fear has no authority. The Spirit of God is our confidence, because He brings with Him the very help of Heaven.

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;”
John 14:16 (KJV)

The word Comforter (Greek: Parakletos) means helper, advocate, and strengthener.  This is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead and now lives in us (Romans 8:11). The moment we received Him, we received divine help, not temporarily, but permanently.

So when Hebrews 13:6 says, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man shall do unto me,” it is a bold declaration from a soul aware of divine assistance. It’s not arrogance; it’s faith. It’s not confidence in ourselves, but in the One who is with us and in us.

The Holy Spirit brings not fear, but power: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Fear loses its grip when you understand who stands with you. With the Spirit of God within, you have help for every battle, wisdom for every decision, and peace in every storm.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for being my ever-present help. I praise You for giving me Your Spirit—my Helper, my Comforter, and my Strength. I refuse to live in fear, for I know You are with me and in me. Help me to be bold in my faith, confident in Your presence, and peaceful in every storm. Fill me with fresh awareness of Your Spirit today. I declare that I will not fear what man may do unto me, because You are my Helper, my Defender, and my God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
